Onside Hendersonville Soccer Club

Women's soccer has never had the same attention as men's soccer, but that doesn't mean its not as competitive. The women's World Cup was founded in 1991, that's only 32 years ago.  The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) was founded in 2012. The first to be recognized as the top of the top for women's soccer leagues. Women's soccer has been on the biggest increase of viewership and has gained more attention over the past years, and has been seen as even more competitive. Women's soccer has been seen as more physical, and an enjoyable sport to watch by avid sports viewers.

Hendersonville Soccer Club u19 division had its first week of practices and it went great. Thought weather was not the best, no practices were cancelled, and teams were able to meet each other. Soccer is not much different than other sports when it comes to conditioning . One of the most important parts of soccer is keeping a good rhythm and pace throughout your time on the field. For the team I help coach, we wanted our players to realize that because it's time to be ready to start playing soccer again, the first practice is all about getting used to that feeling of always moving around. The Hendersonville Soccer Club season is soon to be underway as the divisions have finally concluded the draft of players. The practices are to begin in the upcoming week, but due to weather conditions it may be delayed.  The spring season has been known to have many games and practices cancelled due to weather and intense rainfall. HSC recently started hosting evaluations for the older age groups for the draft, but this season the evaluations were canceled because of the fields being rained out.  HSC takes necessary precautions for weather and has a lightning detector that goes off when it detects lightning from several miles away. 

The head and assistant coaches of Hendersonville Soccer Club are meeting to discuss the future of the season and for those who need the training necessary.  The meeting will provide coaches with free CPR training. All coaches are required to complete CPR training and complete a concussion protocol video that gives them a certification.

During the time of Black History Month , I think it would be a good chance to show the history of black soccer legends who made the sport more diverse and who encouraged the world. These players helped the change of diversity through communities. Arthur Wharton - The first ever black professional soccer player. Born in what is now Accra, Ghana in 1865. Wharton received backlash and racist comments for his time pro. That did not stop him from pursuing his career in soccer. Pelé -  Edson Arantes do Nascimento, or better known as Pelé, is one of the most accomplished soccer players of all time.  Pelé has scored the most goals in FIFA history and has won three World Cups with Brazil.  Unfortunately, he recently passed away on December 29, 2022.  Pelé lives on as one of the greatest to ever do it and was an inspiration to all.
